The World Series of Poker announced a new promotion that will include a $ 10,000 seat in the 2021 WSOP Main Event as well as other perks for an all-inclusive trip to Las Vegas.
This raises so many questions.
The promotion does not require a purchase or registration for the WSOP online poker site. It's a simple World Series of Poker sweepstakes.
The Ultimate Poker Champion Experience competition is open from February 15th to April 30th. Players simply register through the WSOP website to take part in the race.
The giveaway winner will receive a seat for the 2021 WSOP Main Event (valued at $ 10,000) and a round-trip flight to Las Vegas for two. You will receive three nights in a suite in the Caesars Palace, a dinner in a "celebrity chef restaurant" and a whiskey / cigar pairing in the Montecristo Cigar Bar in the Caesars Palace. Eventually, the winner will receive $ 1,000 pocket money.
Caesars Interactive Entertainment will select the winner on May 6, 2021.
Will the 2021 WSOP be live or online?
There is no way to answer this question. And there are references to both options branded into the action.
The graduation itself makes it sound like the winner will be for the WSOP in Las Vegas.
Of course, the WSOP would like to host a live summer WSOP again after being canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic. Some signs point to this possibility, such as Las Vegas increasing Gaming Day capacity to 35% on February 15th. If all goes well, officials will increase this capacity to 50% on March 15th.
Several Covid-19 vaccines are in production and distribution processes. President Joe Biden said last week that every American should have a vaccine by the end of July. The more people vaccinated, the less chance the virus will spread over time. All of this increases the chance of hosting a live World Series of Poker in 2021.
I think the whole time there was a live WSOP 2021 in Vegas planned. The when is still TBA

On the other hand, the winner of the promotion will only get three nights at Caesars Palace. That would be just enough time (barely) to play an online poker tournament and still have time to pair a cigar and whiskey one night and a fancy dinner the next.
In addition, the winner must travel by December 30, 2021 as there is no cash alternative. This leaves a wide window open to host the WSOP live in the summer or later in the year.
Would a live WSOP be in Rio or Caesars?
The Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino would appear to be the easiest option. The WSOP knows exactly how to use the pavilion room to host the series, and the Rio knows how to house the activities and players.
When Eldorado Resorts announced its plan to purchase Caesars Entertainment, rumors began to spread that Caesars would sell the Rio as part of the deal. At this point in 2019 – when a pandemic wasn't even a remote consideration – the WSOP's Seth Palansky confirmed that the 2020 WSOP would be held in Rio.
A few months later, Caesars Entertainment actually sold the Rio. However, a significant part of the sale was that Caesars would operate the property for at least two years with the rent paid, and the buyer (Dreamscape Companies) could extend the lease for a third year. This seemed to guarantee that the 2020 and 2021 WSOP would take place in Rio.
Most recently, in mid-January 2021, the Nevada Gaming Commission announced a preliminary aptitude test for Dreamscape executives based on a positive recommendation from the Nevada Gaming Control Board. The company directors Eric Birnbaum and Thomas Ellis can now start working out plans for the conversion of the Rio. Even so, Caesars will pay rent for the property until the end of 2021.
Despite the Caesars agreement, the WSOP is exhibiting the winner of the competition in Caesars Palace, where the whiskey / cigar evening will also take place. It could be a precaution or a prediction.
Since the WSOP does not want to provide any information until it is absolutely necessary, poker players and fans may have to wait a month or two for answers to their questions.
